There have been constant debates about this topic and most parents still feel that teachers need to follow the law and teach accordingly. The truth is there are certain laws put in place which hinder teachers from teaching students to the best of their ability. There are times when teachers need to take very specific action but due to certain teaching laws they are not able to do anything. Laws prohibit teachers from what they can and can not teach in class. This is to a point where they can not even mention certain events as an example. Teachers need a little bit more freedom in order to continue the great job they do.
Teaching laws are not the only laws that teachers need to keep in mind. There are definitely some rules and regulations educators need to follow. These standard rules will prevent any types of discrimination as it is wrong to separate one group of people from another. Another important rule is not to hurt a student physically as this can be both harmful for the student’s future and the teachers themselves. Physical abuse is not a proper form of punishment and the law prevents teachers from giving corporal punishment to their students.
On the other hand, certain laws limiting religion and what teachers can teach only prevents a person from learning more regarding the values of religion. This should not be taught in a way that would seem like an obligation the students have to follow, but rather in a manner that would show respect and help other be more aware of what religion is all about. Only a handful of schools currently allow religious education and it is definitely something that should be spread to more schools.
