Teachers Should Receive More

It goes without saying that teachers should and must receive the utmost respect for what they do. They help with your child’s development unlike any other group of people and they work very hard to perform to the best of their ability. Teachers are the first certified group of people who will help shape your child’s future, right after you. Unfortunately often we hear about their problems and the lack of respect they receive from the community. But in addition to respect, there are several things that teachers do not receive as well as they should.

First and foremost, salary is one of the main problems in the field of education. It seems that more and more teachers are losing their jobs or they have to reduce hours in order to maintain their jobs. In general educators are not paid nearly as well as they should be so the community suffers as a result. Often some of the best teachers will leave their job in the pursuit of something that is better paid, and as a result the schooling system ends up losing a valuable contributor.

We need to understand that a teacher’s job does not start when classes start and does not end at the end of school. They spend hours outside of the classroom, each day, to prepare material for the next day and grade their students. They are more of a parental figure in a child’s life and they continue to work even after the school closes. Most teachers will tell you that they do this out of passion for their profession and the enjoyment they receive from seeing their students succeed, but if they are not taken care of equally, they stand to lose their passion. Though the government and the community is doing everything they can to improve teaching benefits, there is still a lot more to be done. It’s important for everyone that teachers get their dues from society.
